Welcome to Your P&C – Parents & Citizens Working Together
The New Farm State School Parents & Citizens' Association (P&C) is a vital part of our school community. We are a group of parents, carers, teachers, and community members who work together to support the school, enrich student experiences, and strengthen community connections.
Whether you're new to the school or a long-time local, getting involved with the P&C is a great way to stay connected and make a meaningful difference.
What Does the P&C Do?
The P&C contributes to school life in many important ways:
- Building Community: We create opportunities for families to connect through social events, working bees, and community initiatives.
- Enhancing Student Learning: We fundraise for classroom resources, learning programs, and enrichment opportunities that go beyond what the school budget covers.
- Supporting Facilities: We help improve school grounds and facilities to create a safe, welcoming and inspiring environment for our children.
- Providing Services: We manage or support services like the tuckshop, uniform shop, and events that support student wellbeing and family engagement.
- Advocating for Our School: We work in partnership with the school leadership and staff to advocate for the needs of our students and families.
Why Get Involved?
Joining the P&C is one of the most rewarding ways you can support your child's education.
By getting involved, you:
- Stay informed and contribute to decisions that affect the school.
- Help shape a positive school culture and sense of community.
- Build friendships and networks with other parents and carers.
- Set a great example for your children about the value of volunteering and civic participation.
You don't need any special skills or a big time commitment – just a willingness to help in whatever way you can.
How Can I Help?
There are many ways to contribute, big and small:
- Attend P&C meetings in-person or online (even just once or twice a year!)
- Help out at school events like discos, BBQs, or fundraisers.
- Volunteer in the tuckshop or uniform shop.
- Join a working group or help with a project.
- Nominate for a committee role or just come along to learn more.
Every hand helps, and we love welcoming new faces!
Unsure about how you can volunteer? We'd love to learn a bit more about you. Fill in our short survey so we can match an opportunity to your skills, interests and availability.
When Do We Meet?
P&C meetings are held each term in the school library and online. Everyone is welcome – no RSVP required!
Can't make it in person? We try to make meetings accessible via Zoom or Teams where possible. Minutes are shared via email and available on request.
If you wish to vote, you must be a current member. Access the membership form here. Email your completed form to the P&C Secretary (listed below) or bring it to the next P&C meeting.
