Homework is a very valuable part of the learning process. In the less structured environment at home, students have the opportunity, through focused activities to deepen knowledge, refine a range of skills and develop their thinking processes. Homework enables time management and organisational skills to be developed. Homework provides students with opportunities to consolidate their classroom learning, pattern behaviour for lifelong learning beyond the classroom and involve family members
Homework relates to activities completed at home and comprises but is not limited to the following:
• teacher set differentiated tasks based on providing the opportunity for students to practise and consolidate understanding of work done in class
• reading independent levelled fiction and non- fiction books or texts
• home activities (eg. tidying bedroom, helping with shopping)
Homework expectations are outlined by each teacher at the start of the year via one of the following:
• handout given to student to be glued into homework book/folder
• Class DoJo
• NFSS website
• parent teacher information sessions
