Philosophy Statement
Homework in primary school helps students develop essential skills for lifelong learning beyond the classroom. It reinforces classroom learning, builds independence, and fosters responsibility and time management. It provides an opportunity for students to practise and consolidate their understanding in a supportive environment. Homework also encourages a positive partnership between school and home, allowing families to engage in their child’s education.
Homework encompasses activities performed outside of the classroom. A range of tasks may be assigned which include but are not limited to:
- Reading for pleasure and understanding
- Maths related activities
- Subject related homework E.g. Science observing the moon.
Homework expectations are outlined by teachers at the start of each year via one of the following:
- Hardcopy handout given to student
- Class DoJo
- Parent teacher information sessions
